A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of speaking with Sarah Long, director of the North Suburban Library System and former ALA president, as part of her Longshots podcast series.

An ACPL Conversation

Back in April I had the pleasure to visit with the great staff at Allen County Public Library. After a day of giving two back-to-back talks, Sean and Kay stuck me both in front of camera and under bright lights. Here is the result of all their weeks of editing:

Thanks Sean & Kay. Despite feeling nervous at first, I think you managed to skillfully edit out my bloopers :)

LITA Hi Tech Award

After having three different people in the last 48 hours ask me why I didn’t have anything about the LITA Hi Tech award on my site, I thought perhaps I should post something.

To be honest, I’m not quite sure what I should be posting here other then to say I feel very, very blessed and humbled by the honor. Never in my wildest dreams would I ever imagined that my name would be attached to such an honor, let alone nominated.

I still don’t know who was the individual(s) behind my nomination. But I do know that I owe them (whoever you are) and LITA a HUGE thanks. For me it’s not so much the actual award that I’m thankful for. It's rather the acknowledgment that a simple idea, like Learning 2.0, when shared freely has the ability to benefit so many.

Anyway Thanks LITA! I'm looking forward to Anaheim. And if you ask me at ALA what I plan to do next? My response will be easy … “I’m going to Disneyland” :)

On Wired.com today...

As you might guess I did a little happy dance when I saw this on the homepage of Wired.com today. The image came from one of the staff participants in the program. (Who also happens to be the Library's graphic designer. You can tell, cant' you, by looking at her blog?)

Anyways, I just checked the stats for the site and yes, there's is definitely a "Wired effect". To be honest the exciting part of this whole learning thing to me is how other libraries are adopting the program, modifying it, and making it better. Imagine what could happen if libraries together shifted some focused and fostered this type of discovery and organic learning for their communities? I don't have to guess. I know. It would be Amazing !!!!!
